PET INSURANCE & LIVER PROFILE BECAUSE OF TAINTED FOOD

This is like deja vous...pet food we thought was safe is actually killing our beloved friends!

I went through this in November-December 2006 because of the Diamond dog food that was fed to my puppy at the kennel. I picked her up at the end of October and within a week she almost died. I think I willed her to live. Chanel a Lhasa-pom, only weighed 1.6ozs and all night long she threw up and then there was bloody stool. Her tummy was always making growling noises and I thought she had swallowed something that was stuck. I had no idea it was the food she had eaten before I got her. Later, after one scary night in an animal hospital, and 2 vets later, I was online and ran across the article about a recall of that food. Lightbulb moment for me! Many dogs were already dead from liver failure! Chanel was on an antibiotic and seemed to be better. I called the last vet and he had just read about it too.  Even though she seemed ok he felt she should have a liver profile to access the damage. It turned out fine. I was so worried I could hardly work! When I did have to leave her I hurried to get home to her.

All this worry brought me to buy pet insurance that I don't mind paying a bit. For all of you that have gone to a vet in an emergency you know what I mean when I say I would pay ANYTHING at that moment to have her well. Now I have peace of mind that it is covered when I have to freak out! Now I go in there and say, "Do whatever it takes...money is not an object!"

Now that everyone is worried again about this new scare of toxic food. If your pet has eaten this food, take your pet in for a liver profile to see about getting them on special low protein food to help keep them stable. I'm really careful now and only feed natural food with no preservatives. I want to see if I can keep her from getting cancer. It has to be from what they eat. I don't even mop my floors in anything other than a little white vinegar in water. Don't use anything with chemicals in it. The swiffer mop residue can kill a pet that licks a floor.

Please email me if you need more info about the pet insurance or food ideas. I'll help in any way I can.

Healthy Chanel w/ BIG HAIR!! I DO love her!!
