MICHAEL JACKSON Celebration Of Life - Share Your Memory

MICHAEL JACKSON Celebration Of Life

1958 - 2009

Michael Jackson tributeToday will be a moment the world stood still to celebrate the magic ...the music...the man in the mirror.

Bits and pieces of my life took place along with a song. As I hear a Michael Jackson song, I remember where I was and what I was doing.

The first time I heard Thriller...I watched the video on MTV.

It was the first time I had ever had the chance to see MTV and I was in a hotel room in Bowling Green, Kentucky. I left it on for 48 hours! I couldn't get enough. In 1992, I spoke with as I worked at a job in The Sharper Image. It was one of his favorite places to shop.

I have lived in Los Angeles I can imagine how everyone will converge on the Staples Center to pay respects.

Since I can't be there...I will be thinking of the music from here. When I awoke this morning the song "Man In The Mirror" was stuck in my head. Maybe I'm supposed to make that change. I'm starting with me.

When I was a teenager (aging myself) we would dance and dance and dance to the Thriller album. It just didn't get any better. I still have Thriller on my IPod

Lizette, he was a great entertainer, maybe the best.  I hope his memory isn't tainted by the circus that's going on now.

Gabe, I am with you... A circus this is going to be...

In 4th or 5th grade we sang Heal The World for our "graduation".  I've always loved MJ, I'm sad that he's gone and that he had a rough life.  Hope he's finally at peace.

Sincerely,

Kathleen

like Kathleen, I hope he finds peace - what a tortured talent.

Jennifer - One thing for sure...when Thriller was playing you just couldn't sit still for long.

Gabe - I agree. I hope it doesn't get too crazy. He wouldn't have wanted everyone to make such a fuss.

Michael - Maybe the only cirus will be the Ringling Brothers arriving to Staple Center for a show. I hope...

Kathleen - That's a great memory. I think he did find peace even if total by accident.

Janice - That is the sad part for sure. I can't wait to hear all the new music he has stored in the vault for years.

An incrdeible talent but his memory being tainted was not done by the circus.  He managed to do that all by himself.

He was an incredible talent and even though he recently passed I have missed him for a long time now.  I choose to remember him as a talented young musician, not the freak show he was the last 15 years.

Amazing how everywhere, everyone is drawn into his memorial. Just an amazing guy for sure, He'll be missed. I thought he was terrific and a larger than life talent.

May he rest in peace.

RIP, Michael Jackson

Lizette I just read your terrific post about you meeting Michael Jackson in 1992. It brought back an old memory that I had almost forgot. While I never met or spoke to Michael Jackson I followed him home once. lol

It was around 1980 I was living in LA, Sherman Oaks. I was at a music store in Encino. I recognized Michael who was speaking to the valley girl behind the counter. From what I could over hear it sounded like he didn't have any money with him and then he left the store. I went up to the valley girl cashier and said "that was Michael Jackson" she looked at me like I was a weirdo.

I knew it was him so I walked out to the parking lot and sure enough he gets into a purple Rolls Royce. I followed the purple Rolls Royce west on Ventura Boulevard to Woodland Hills all the way up a winding canyon road until it turned into the private Neverland ranch.

Lizette, I just remember all the great music like that on the Thriller album and all the music during the disco days. He will be missed for sure.

Hi Lizette~ He was extremely talented, that is for sure.  Too bad he could never find contentment in his life on earth.  Hopefully he is content where he is right now....

Hi Lizette, Great Post, He was most certainly a great ENTERTAINER, with so much TALENT, and to die so young, He will be missed especially by his family. I feel for his Mother because it would be the worst thing ever to lose a child. May God give comfort them and  May He Rest in Peace!

Loved your post about meeting him. Thanks so much for sharing!
