Life...Fun and Kentucky Real Estate

Lizette's Silly Saturday...seriously!

Jerome AZ Window Bunnies

As I was digging around for my treasures in Mom's attic, I found this 1994 picture that I took in Jerome, AZ., An old copper mining town outside of Prescott.

Mom and Dad had flown in from Kentucky for a visit with me in Mesa. Just prior to the visit, I had just found out that my Dad had cancer. It would be our last road trip where he felt well enough to go somewhere. I was engulfed by sadness...but I was thrilled they had come out to visit!

We were walking along the dusty Jerome sidewalks and I spotted this window display. The bunnies caught our eye and he wanted me to take a picture of them. Dad had such a wonderful time as we acted silly and cut up. He loved to tease and joke. It was like time stood still as we laughed.

These rabbits brought back the wonderful memory of Dad as he must have been so afraid of what was in store for him. He passed away the next year in July right before his birthday. He was my hero and this Easter these silly bunnies remind me that he is still here in spirit.

He wouldn't want me to take life so seriously...so I won't!

Lizette: Isn't it strange how something like these little Musical Bunnies can evoke both happy and sad feelings....at one time?   Thank you for sharing, my friend.

Hi Lizette~ Isn't is amazing how well our memories serve us?  I love the bunnies and the bling!  I miss my dad too! You will probably laugh, but whenever I eat grits, I think of him.... I hope you have a Happy Easter!

Karen - They look like rhinestone bunnies! LOL

Luke - Thanks! I hope you have some fun this Easter...seriously!

Kat - I thought about that as I sort of found this one picture by accident while in the attic. It wasn't in the photo box. Maybe, Dad put it out to remind me!

Michelle - You are right! I remember his laugh and huge smile as we stood there at the window. It brightens my day.

Vicki - Isn't it strange, but good how little things we do remind us of memories that impact our lives?

Hi Lizette, What a great accident you had finding that photo and bringing back wonderful memories of your Dad.

I see quite similar pieces of artwork when I go to the local folk art auction here in Buford.

Lizette... I always seem to find things just when I need them, not that I go looking but to stumble across such a great memory in time for Easter is fitting...it's kismet!

I know how you miss your Daddy.    It's my first Easter without mine.   It still doesn't seem real.

But they are with us in spirit and looking down on us with love!

Connie - Sounds like we both were daddy's girls. As much as I loved him, I still was OK that he had to go. I know he's always with me.
